Ajuga 'Chocolate Chip' (Ajuga reptans) is a low-growing, evergreen perennial groundcover known for its small, chocolate-purple foliage and, from mid-to-late spring, 3-to-4-inch spikes of blue-violet flowers. It spreads rapidly to form a dense, 2–3 inch tall mat that is excellent for suppressing weeds, edging, and filling spaces between stepping stones, preferring partial to full shade and moist, well-drained soil.
