The baby rubber plant (botanically known as Peperomia obtusifolia) is a highly popular, resilient indoor houseplant prized for its thick, spoon-shaped, glossy leaves. Despite its common name, it is an epiphyte from the pepper family (Piperaceae) and is completely unrelated to traditional rubber trees (Ficus elastica). It is notably compact, rarely exceeding 12 to 20 inches in height, and is completely pet-friendly and non-toxic to cats and dogs.
