The Coontie Palm (Zamia integrifolia), or Florida coontie, is actually a slow-growing, ancient, shrub-like cycad (not a true palm) native to Florida, Georgia, and the Caribbean. Known for its leathery, dark green fronds, it is a highly resilient, drought-tolerant, and low-maintenance, shade-to-sun plant often used for accents or borders. It is the exclusive host plant for the rare Atala butterfly.
