Slash pine (Pinus elliottii) is a fast-growing, evergreen conifer native to the southeastern US, highly valued for timber and resin. Reaching 60–100 feet with an open, rounded crown, it is characterized by 7–12 inch needles in bundles of 2-3 and thick, orange-brown, scaly bark. It thrives in wet, acidic, sandy soils and full sun, often found in flatwoods and swamps.
