The Ponderosa lemon tree (Citrus × pyriformis) is a hybrid of citron and pomelo known for producing very large, grapefruit-sized lemons (1–5 lbs) year-round. It is a small, thorny evergreen reaching 12–24 feet outdoors (zones 9–11) but is often grown in containers as a 6–8 foot patio tree. The tree features fragrant, purple-tinged blooms and is less cold-hardy than true lemons, requiring protection from frost.
