The Blue Agave (Agave americana), or Century Plant, is a fast-growing, dramatic succulent that reaches 3–6 feet tall and 6–10 feet wide with thick, spiny blue-green leaves. It requires full sun, very little water, and thrives in well-drained soil. Despite its name, it typically matures and blooms in 10–30 years, after which the parent plant dies, often leaving behind "pups".
