Ligustrum sinense (Chinese privet) is a fast-growing, deciduous-to-semi-evergreen shrub, growing 5–30 ft tall, known for its dense, arching branches and fragrant white flowers. Primarily used in the 1800s as an ornamental hedge, it is now considered a highly invasive species in the southern U.S. due to its aggressive growth and ability to form thickets that choke out native vegetation.
